Barcelona are close to completing a deal to sign Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal after the two clubs exchanged the necessary documents.
The transfer is reportedly moving into its final stages, with the Brazilian striker expected to travel to Spain for his medical.
Barcelona turned to Jesus after failing to sign Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez. The 29-year-old is set to leave Arsenal after four seasons at the club, having joined from Manchester City in 2022.
Jesus made 123 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 32 goals and providing 22 assists. However, he had fallen down the pecking order, with Kai Havertz and new signing Viktor Gyokeres preferred in the central striker role.
Jesus is expected to complete his medical in Barcelona before signing his contract. Reports say his deal will run until June 2028, with an option for an additional year.
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick sees Jesus as a useful addition to his attack, particularly because of his ability to play across the front three.
He is expected to arrive in Barcelona on Monday, with his official presentation planned for Tuesday if everything goes smoothly.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are also reportedly close to selling Gabriel Martinelli to Al-Hilal. The Saudi Pro League club is said to be finalising a deal worth a fixed £60 million, which would become Arsenal’s record sale.
