Gabriel Jesus has revealed that he was made to train away from the Arsenal squad before completing his move to Barcelona.
The Brazilian striker said he completed Arsenal’s pre-season with the team but was suddenly separated from the group.
He admitted he already expected that he might not get many chances under Mikel Arteta, but said nobody explained the decision to him.
Jesus eventually left Arsenal for Barcelona on transfer deadline day in a deal worth an initial £8.6 million. Arsenal wanted to sell him because he was no longer part of Arteta’s plans and was earning more than £200,000 a week.
The 29-year-old said the move to Barcelona came together quickly during the final week of the transfer window.
He praised his agent and Barcelona officials, including Deco, for helping complete the deal and said he immediately accepted the chance to join the Spanish club.
Jesus is now looking forward to starting a new chapter with Barcelona.
